Traverse City, MI (April 25, 2016)—The Traverse City Summer Microbrew & Music Festival will return to the front lawn at the Village of Grand Traverse Commons for the ninth year on August 26 and 27, 2016. This summer’s festival will bring a bevy of some of the best brews in Michigan as well as brews from beyond our high-five border. New Orleans-inspired live musical acts will grace the stage and local food will include a Pit BBQ Competition.

With over 300 beers, ciders, meads, and wines, the weekend will be overflowing with flavorful beverages, delicious food, talented musicians, and thousands of beer and music lovers. Patrons will be able to explore every corner of the craft brew culture via a Rare Brew Tour, Homebrewer’s Challenge, and a new Brewer’s Collaboration Court. Also, the Hop n’ Brew Shack will make its return and feature extra-special brews and first releases from select breweries.

Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue and The Revivalists (one of Rolling Stone’s March 2016 10 New Artists You Need to Know) will headline the weekend and will be supported by Traverse City’s own The Accidentals, The Heard, festival favorites That 1 Guy and Heatbox, The Last Revel, The Change, Detroit Party Marching Band, Deep Blue Water Samba, and more to be announced in the coming weeks. Program-11x17

3:30pm(Early Birds)
Starcut Ciders: Erraticus– 6.5% ABV- Erraticus is a dry wild cider made with 100% Jonathon apples, fermented with wild yeast, and finished with Brettanomyces and Pinot Noir yeast.

Arbor: Sodibo Barrel Aged Sour– 5.5% ABV- Sodibo is a sophisticated and complex ale with a bright golden hue and moderate carbonation. It features a burst of complex fruity, spicy, sweet-tart, and earthy flavors with a quenching acidity in the finish.

4:00pm
Arcadia: Brown Cow– 8% ABV- Sour Barrel Aged Cocoa Stout with Tart Cherries. A unique blend of barrel-aged beers (2/3 barrel-aged tart/wild malty brown ale with cherries, 1/3 barrel-aged Cocoa Loco), designed as an homage to the sweet/sour “oud bruin” brown ales of West Flanders, Belgium. Deceptively smooth and rich, this dark chestnut-colored ale has notes of milk chocolate and pralines, offset by a hint of tartness from cherries and the wild Brettanomyces yeast used in the barrels. The base beers spent a combined 3.5 years in second-use oak Bourbon barrels, which lends a calming softness to the flavor and aroma. This extended time leaves barely a hint of oak flavor, beyond the subtle structure and deft balance that compliments each base beer, to equal a fine ale that is greater than the sum of it’s parts. Very limited quantities, this beer might not ever exist again!

North Peak: Snapper– 5% ABV- A pale ale. A nice, refreshing pale ale named after our CFO, Tony Grant. Light, crisp, bitter, yet smooth

4:30pm
Bell’s:  30th Anniversary Ale
– 1% ABV- Imperial Stout. Flavors of dark chocolate and fruit meld to create a full-bodied, roasty stout. A fair amount of Polaris hops lend a brightness and a nice character that will help carry the beer in its early stages making it incredibly drinkable and interesting. Malt characteristics will continue to develop over time, so that beer drinkers who choose to cellar it can enjoy the beer for years to com.

Perrin: Cherry Capital Sour– 5.3%- Sour Ale. A blend of Balaton and Montmorency cherries from Traverse City, Michigan. A Belgian brown base and hand selected bacteria yeast strains by the brew team to create a very rare limited sour release. Laid down in fresh oak barrels for over a year and found that perfect balance of taste between our favorite sweet and sour candy as it aged.

5:00pm
Brewery Terra Firma: Wolfhound Russian Imperial Oatmeal Stout– 10.0% ABV- Substantial malt character is chewy and warm with rich, roasty coffee notes mingling with dark chocolate and fruit, all perched upon a firm hop profile.

Brewery Vivant: Wizard Burial Ground– 10.4% ABV- Bourbon Barrel Aged Quadrupel. Wizard Burial Ground is a rich and layered Barrel-Aged beer full of dense bourbon flavors coupled with powerful aromatics and the complexity of a huge Belgian-Style Quadruple Ale. Uncanny. Macabre. Mind-Altering. Wizard. Burial. Ground.

The Filling Station:  GILLS CREEK CHERRY BOURBON STOUT– 8.5% ABV- Our full bodied T.C. Cherry Stout aged for six months in bourbon barrels.  Up front bourbon flavor, with a hint of tart cherry in the finish.

5:30pm
Saugatuck: Bourbon Barrel Aged Neapolitan Milk Stout– 6.5% ABV- Aged 5 months in Buffalo Trace and Barton barrels all of the rich flavors that you know and love of our Neapolitan Milk Stout are only enhanced by the smooth bourbon characteristics.

Rochester Mills: Blueberry Pancake Milkshake Stout– 5% ABV- This stout is brewed with lactose (milk sugar) to impart a fuller body and sweeter palate. Flavored with blueberry pancakes.

6:00pm
Bell’s: TC Whiskey Barrel Aged 3rd Coast Old Ale- 12% ABV- Whiskey BA Old Ale.

Stormcloud: Bourbon Barrel Aged Gerald’s– 8.5% ABV- Bourbon Barrel Aged Gerald’s Talking Dog.

6:30pm
Bell’s:  Milchkaffe– 5.5% ABV- Stout brewed with coffee and lactose.

Short’s: Zangeif’s Bearhug– 10.2% ABV- Zangief’s Bearhug is a pitch black Russian Imperial Stout with a dark brown milk shake lace.

7:00pm
Founders: KBS 2015– 11.2% ABV- What we’ve got here is an imperial stout brewed with a massive amount of coffee and chocolates, then cave-aged in oak bourbon barrels for an entire year to make sure wonderful bourbon undertones come through in the finish. Makes your taste buds squeal with delight.

Stormcloud: Scotch Barrel Aged B Sirius– 8% ABV-  Scotch Barrel Aged B., Sirius Belgian Dubbel. A traditional Belgian-style Dubbel. Malty, amber and raisiny.

7:30pm
Hew Holland: Dragons Milk Triple Mash– 14% ABV- Intense malt character is paired with compelling whiskey character and the toasted notes of American white oak. Robust, yet balanced. Aged in New Holland Artisan Spirits own whiskey and bourbon barrels. Beer Style- Triple Mashed Stout Aged in Oak.

Perrin: No Rules– 15% ABV- Imperial Porter. NO RULES were followed throughout the creation of this product. This 15% Imperial Porter was made with coconut & turbinado sugar then laid down & aged in bourbon barrels for several months.
